From the Flight Deck – Long Beach Airport (Daugherty Field) (LGB)
Long Beach (LGB), also known as Daugherty Field, is a busy medium-sized multi-use airport, located in the city of Long Beach, California. There are five more airports of varying sizes within a ten-mile radius of Long Beach. Its associated Class Delta airspace is adjacent to Los Alamitos Army Air Field’s airspace, and underlies the Los Angeles Class Bravo.

JetBlue's last flight out of Long Beach
JetBlue's time at Long Beach Airport has sadly come to an end. After serving the airport for almost 20 years, they elected to move their focus city over to LAX.

#46 Easy Flight - Long Beach to Van Nuys in the Citation Mustang
In this video we return N44DT back to our customers base in Van Nuys and fly it there from our FAA repair shop at Long Beach. In an earlier video we showed you how complex it is to fly from Van Nuys to Long Beach and we thought it'd be interesting to show you how relatively easy it is the other way around. We basically fly from Long Beach towards the LAX airport and head north into the downwind for runway 16R at Van Nuys.
Please let us know if you like these kind of flying videos sometimes to just mix up the content of the channel a little bit.
Thank you! If you have any questions in regards to buying or selling an aircraft or want to know what your aircraft might be worth on this crazy market, please contact me or our team! Contact info below!

Explore the Historic B-17 Bomber at Long Beach Air Show (2006)
Check out this captivating YouTube video showcasing the 2006 air show at Long Beach Airport in California. In this video, we take a tour inside the legendary B-17 bomber, one of the iconic World War Two aircraft. It's truly fascinating to step inside and experience the historical significance of these bombers. It's astonishing to think that over 12,000 of these planes were built during the war. Despite its size, the interior feels cramped, even with just a few people, while during the war, a crew of 17 operated it. The B-17 bomber had an impressive capacity of carrying up to 8000 pounds of bombs and was armed with 13 machine guns to defend against enemy planes, earning it the nickname "Fly Fortress." The video also highlights the popularity of the historic plane, as flights on it were full...

1:25 - The volume and traffic mix at LGB.
2:21 - Helicopters inbound to the field from the North and South enter their traffic pattern between the parallel runways by crossing either Runway 26L or 26R midfield at 500ft to join a downwind leg, or to enter a holding point east of the terminal building, or west of Runway 12-30 over the large hangar.
2:46 - The risk of wrong surface landings.
3:06 - It is particularly important to listen to the ATIS at Long Beach due to the use of two Tower frequencies based on traffic volume and staffing.
4:24 - Under certain conditions, Long Beach runs simultaneous intersecting runway operations to Runway 30 and Runway 26R by using LAHSO procedures. The tower will inform pilots of their sequence to the runway and of traffic landing the intersecting runway. Be sure to read back the runway hold short instruction as the tower MUST ensure you have read it back correctly.
5:42 - Hot Spot 1 concerns aircraft cleared from the West ramp.
6:34 - When departing Long Beach, contact ground control with call sign, type aircraft, current ATIS, and requested runway. There are designated run-up areas on the way to each runway. Once the run-up is complete, pilots must contact ground control for clearance to continue to taxi.
The FAA's From the Flight Deck video series uses aircraft-mounted cameras to capture runway and taxiway footage and combines them with diagrams and visual graphics to clearly identify hot spots and other safety-sensitive items. Learn more at https://www.faa.gov/go/FromTheFlightDeck

JetBlue Airways arrived at Long Beach a year after it commenced operations. The airport was designed to act as an alternative to flying into LAX, and throughout their time here it did just that. Millions of passengers would fly through LGB annually.
It was a sad day for many crewmembers, ground workers, and JetBlue fans, but the farewell was strong. The captain gave amazing speeches, JetBlue gave away 2 free round-trip tickets, and to top it off one of the flight attendants sang an amaznig 'JetBlue' cover of Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"!
I hope you enjoy my experience onboard the final JetBlue flight to and from Long Beach!

The B-17 bomber had an impressive capacity of carrying up to 8000 pounds of bombs and was armed with 13 machine guns to defend against enemy planes, earning it the nickname "Fly Fortress." The video also highlights the popularity of the historic plane, as flights on it were fully booked that day. Sit back, relax, and enjoy this incredible journey into the past.
